How Strengthening Your Subtle Body Can Help Your Marketing

“We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others…”

— Marianne Williamson

In Yoga and Tantra, as well as other spiritual traditions and healing practices, the subtle body consists of numerous invisible channels (nadis) and focal points (chakras) that convey life-force energy to the physical body.  The main energy flow is through the ida nadi (feminine energy channel) and pingala nadi (masculine energy channel) and  seven chakras located along the central nadi or axis of the subtle body. Known in Sanskrit as the shushumna, this channel corresponds to the spine, and it’s the core of enlightenment inherent in each one of us.

Most of us are unaware that the shushumna exists, and we rarely feel it.  All of our conditioned patterns – our limiting, negative beliefs, imbalances, fears and other constricting feelings – encase the shushumna, hiding it from view.  They pinch off the light and energy (known as kundalini) that would normally flow through this central axis to our physical bodies.

As entrepreneurs, these patterns also affect the kundalini that flows through our businesses.  For coaches, therapists and wellness professionals, signs of blockages may appear when it comes to marketing services and products.  These blockages generally originate from restrictive energy patterns held in the first three chakras of the body.

The Base Triangle

What’s known as the “base triangle” comprises the first three chakras of the human energy system.  These chakras connect to physical manifestation and provide energy that charges the other four chakras.  If you have blocks in these chakras, it will be difficult to  implement a marketing plan effectively for your business.

The consciousness associated with the first chakra, or root chakra (muladhara), is that of security, physical survival, fight or flight impulses and life and death struggles.  This is the center of manifestation.  The energy to succeed with your business comes from the root chakra, as well as trust that there’s a Higher Power supporting you.  When this chakra is blocked, you may feel fear, anxiety, insecurity and frustration.

The second chakra, or sacral chakra (svadisthana), relates to sexuality, creativity and your feelings about yourself and others.  It governs your sense of self worth and confidence in your own creativity.  Trusting your ability to create your business and believing in the value of your services and products originate from this chakra.  When this chakra is blocked, you may feel emotionally reactive or repressed and creatively stuck.  You may have difficulty reaching out to others in an open and balanced way and/or have low energy.

The third chakra, or solar plexus chakra (manipura), is the center of personal power, choice, self-esteem, the ego, passions, anger and strength.  This chakra has an action orientation.  It also has an intuitive aspect; it’s where you experience your “gut instincts” that guide you to do or not do something.  Having strong self esteem allows you to trust your intuition so you can act decisively (essential for business building) and feel good about offering your services and products to the world.  When this chakra is blocked, you may lack confidence, fear rejection, be indecisive and/or, rely too heavily on others’ opinions (not trust your own guidance).

“Let me light my lamp, says the star, and never debate if it will dispel the dark.”

— Rabindranath Tagore

Just the thought of marketing your business can trigger any number of limiting beliefs, fears, doubts and uncomfortable feelings related to base triangle chakra issues.  If this is true for you, it may be time for some mental and emotional clutter-busting.

To start this process, first ask, “What am I meant to heal in myself through marketing my business?”  Consider journaling your response to that question and the following:

What do I really believe about marketing, commerce and money?  What fears, doubts or other constricting feelings do I have about these topics?

What do I really believe and feel about myself and the value of my services and/or products?

What do I believe about my community (i.e., market)?  What fears, doubts or other resistant feelings do I have about reaching out and connecting with my community?

Using your own feedback to these questions, set an intention that you’ll free yourself from any restrictive patterns you’ve identified.  Some tools that may help you with this are chakra clearing meditations, kundalini yoga, reiki, crystal healing, flower essences, Emotional Freedom Technique®, ThetaHealing™, The One Command®  and many other energy healing modalities.  Tuning into your own guidance, discern what tools are the right ones for you.

Doing this inner work will help you clear your base triangle chakras and raise your kundalini.  As a result, you’ll feel more balanced mentally and emotionally about marketing your offerings.  This, in turn, will give your marketing tactics power, so that those you’re meant to serve can easily perceive your light.
